American astronomer Carl Sagan was a great inspiration to many of us sci-fi nerds having being at the forefront of the search for extra terrestrial life (SETI).
Carl Sagan left behind some deeply inspiring and thought provoking work including more than 600 scientific pages and 20 books including ‘Contact’.

and finally…Carl Sagan’s message for Mars
Carl Sagan died on 20th December 1996 and so when the Phoenix safely landed upon Mars on May 25th 2008, this following video was carried with it a DVD made of silica glass, designed to last the tens, hundreds, thousands of years it may take for humans to visit Mars and to rediscover it. It contained messages and artworks chosen for future visitors to discover when humans eventually travel to the planet. Among them was a message from the late Carl Sagan.
