I’m partial to gambling at a casino for a bit of fun (nothing too serious) and have been to some of the coolest casinos around the World. I love to travel and find travel destinations around the World that can allow me the opportunity to visit some of the world’s top casinos.
America, in particular Las Vegas is of course the most famous place in the World to gamble in an amazing location but what about South America?
Whilst South America may be a well-chosen country to travel for many travellers like myself, it’s fair to say the country is not associated with casino gambling like America is. I was under the same impression until I did some research before my last trip. I learnt that most of the South American nations (with a few exceptions) offer casino gambling to their guests.
Some of these nations are rather new to the casino industry, such as Chile, which didn’t make way for casinos to be built in their country until 2005. At that time, the country authorised the development of a total of 17 casinos. These casinos could not be located within 70 km of one another, making them spread out over the country.
Gran Casino Los Angeles
This casino holds the distinction of being the newest casino found anywhere in South America. Located in the Chilean Province of Bio-Bio, the casino is modern with an open floor plan creating a spacious design. Much of the inspiration for the casino came from its natural surroundings. The casino provides players with over 200 slot machines and 10 gaming tables. As is the trend in some of South America’s casinos, a bingo room is also provided here. Guests can also enjoy dining in the restaurant or relaxing with a cocktail in the lounge bar. The casino is open daily at 4 pm during the week and at 2 pm on weekends.
A Chilean city along the coast is the home of the Casino Arica. Guests can choose from almost 400 gaming machines. Table games are also found here and include roulette, blackjack, craps and mini-baccarat.
A local variety of poker is also found at the casino known as Poker Arica. Using the same card rankings as all other poker games, Poker Arica is a subtle variation of five card poker. For any poker fan, trying this different local game is a must if visiting the Casino Arica.
